WEC Assist provided an assessment for the implementation of a trickle filter sewage treatment system for a residential development in Lusaka, Zambia.

The development features four apartment blocks, standalone housing units as well as clubhouse, gardens and recreational facilities. The assessment found that the treatment plant, which can process up to 85m3 of sewage per day, will be able to treat a portion of the development’s black water effluent to irrigation water standards using chlorine-based disinfection to reduce impurities. This will significantly reduce the development’s overall water consumption.
